Track and Field competition on 2nd November had good participation levels. The junior 600m had 17 competitors with the win going to Cameron Baxter in 1:50.67. Archie Higgins was 2nd with 2:00.54 and Evie Binney was 3rd in 2:04.54. The senior race also had 17 competitors and was taken out by Harrison Baxter in 1:40.01 followed by Tom Brookes in 1:48.80 and Oliver Baxter in 1:49.15.
In the sprints there were 9 heats of the 60m. Amongst the fastest were Tom Brookes (8.19), Erin Smart (8.71), Harrison Baxter (8.72), Alisha Mustapic (8.73), Paul Musgrove (8.80) and Archie Higgins (8.99).
There were 6 heats of the 100m with Evie Binney, Mack Tanner, Archie Higgins, Harrison Baxter, Tom Brookes and Loretta Norris taking out their respective races.
Twenty four competitors lined up for the 1500m. The event was won by Harrison Baxter with brother Oliver Baxter in 2nd and Hamish McLaren was 3rd. Unfortunately a timing clock malfunction resulted in no times for this event.
In the field Hamish McLaren speared 29.13m whilst dad Scott McLaren got in some throwing practice before the upcoming relays and managed 21.02m. Tori Sayer threw 27.59m and Andrew Havadjia had a good throw with 21.11m.
In high jump Paul Musgrove cleared 1.4m and junior Archie Higgins was next highest with 1.3m. Riley Sandstrom and Evie Binney both jumped well and cleared 1.15m. Also jumping over 1m were Elizabeth Davis (1.05m), Hendrix Blinksell (1.05m) and Elsie Proctor (1.1m).
It’s great to see so many athletes enjoying this season’s track and field competition. New members are always welcome, of all ages and abilities.
