Kerrie Jones competed at the Australian Masters Indoor Throws Championships which were held in conjunction with NSW Masters Indoor Championships on the weekend of 20th and 21st August 2022.
It was a huge weekend of throwing for all participants with the competition conducted at the Indoor Equestrian Centre in Somersby. Medals were awarded for both NSW Masters and Australian Masters, and Nowra’s superstar thrower Kerrie took home a total of 8 medals for her 4 events.
On Saturday, Kerrie started her competition with shot put. From 6 throws, Kerrie left her best to last, achieving 5.97m on her final throw to take the bronze medal.
In the Weight Throw, Kerrie again pulled out her best throw on her final attempt, earning the bronze medal with 8.53m.
In the Super Weight Throw Kerrie again continued to build momentum, throwing 6.03m on her last throw to claim the Silver medal.
On Sunday, Kerrie returned to the throwing circle to complete the Heavy Weight Pentathlon. Kerrie managed 9.82m in the 3kg weight throw, 9.49m with the 4kg weight, 7.48m with the 5.45kg weight, 6.39m in the 7.26m throw and then 5.30m with the 9.08kg weight. Kerrie accumulated a total of 2455 points to take home the Silver medal.
