Summit Shoalhaven aka King of the Mountain was held on July 24th.
There were some last minute changes to the course and distances, when Council declared on the eve of the event that the original courses were not safe to run on due to the conditions of the surface due to the recent rainfall, poor weather conditions and landslides. However the event went ahead with a contingency plan.
Club member, Dean Bryce did himself and the Club proud covering the 17kms in 1.50.51. Dean was 2nd in the 50-59 years category and 9th male from 21.
Damian Smith braved the 62kms course and came in a gallant 1st in the 50-59 years category in a time of 6.33.28, and was 9th male, from a large pool of 51 runners.
The Club had a number of past and present members who volunteered at the Summit event and in doing so, raised $3000 for the Club. Thank you to Perry, Sue and Jarvis Strand, Tom Davis, Lisa Carroll, Rob McDonald, Mark Thirwall, Tammy Jones, Erich and Eva Moeller-Duhme, and Colin Crouch.
