Some dedicated athletes took time out on Easter Saturday from their chocolate eating to run cross country at Longreach Rd.
In the 2km event Malachy Martin was first home in 12:47. Jack Kinsele crossed 2nd in 12:02 then Isabella Mitchell was 3rd in 15:00. Aidan McLaren was 4th in 15:25 then Heidi McLaren was equal 5th with mum Doonan McLaren in 18:39.
The 3km event had 12 competitors. Airlie Stevens took line honours in17:12 whilst Paul Duncan was 2nd in 17:24 and speedy Matthew Reid was 3rd in 13:56. Lucy Duncan was 4th in 21:33 and Steven McCullagh was 5th in 16:17. Tim Musson was 6th in 16:03 followed by Noah Dyball, Emily McLaren, Mat Kinsele, Zoe Musson, Emma Stevens and Andrew Havadjia.
Medium course had 12 participants too with the Duncan’s taking the trifecta. Anna Duncan was 1st in 32:08, Michael Duncan was 2nd in 34:42 and Tom Duncan was 3rd in 25:55. Hamish McLaren was next across the line in the quickest time of 25:07. Gavin Dyball was 5th in 31:37 then Glen Sansom was 6th in 30:51, Darcy Arnold was 7th in 33:15 and Alex Arnold was 8th in 40:17. Next home was Donna Johnson followed by Emily McLaren, who, in 10th place, equalled the fastest female time with 1st place getter Anna Duncan. Phillip Duncan was 11th and Denzel Atkinson was 12th.
Long course had visitor Joanna Bailey take the win in 59:10. Megan Fitt was the first member across the line in 1:08:38 followed by Sky Martin in1:10:19. Bradley Sawyers backed up after Park Run and finished 4th in a super quick time of 38:43. Natasha Toms was 5th in 1:06:56 then Erich Moeller-Duhme, after competing in the Canberra running festival last weekend, was 6th in 1:03:15. Rounding out the long course field was Dean Bryce in 7th in 59:48 and Richard Bosdyk in 8th in 1:02:50.
Next week, cross country will again be held at Longreach whilst we wait for our favourite Hollyhill course to dry out! The following week, on 30th April, we will move to Huskisson for our cross country round as well as our AGM and annual presentation. We look forward to seeing you there.
