A number of Nowra athletes competed at the NSW Milers Series 4 held at The Crest in Bankstown on the evening of Saturday 5th March 2022.
In the 2000m steeplechase Denzel Atkinson gave it his all, collapsing with exhaustion after crossing the finish line. Denzel was 2nd in the race in 6.53.39, just shy of the National Qualifier of 6.50.0.
In the 800m events, Nowra had 6 competitors. In the F Race, Cameron Baxter ran a PB to place 3rd in 2.22.82. Proving that the family that runs together, stays together, the Dyball family alone, had 4 representatives in this distance event. In the F race, Gavin Dyball ran well to place 5th in 2.30.18. In the men’s D race, Toby Dyball ran a huge PB to place 5th in 2.16.13 whilst in the women’s D race Ella Dyball was 6th in 2.45.28. In the B race, the fourth Dyball representative, Will Dyball ran in 6th in 2.03.50, and fellow training partner Cooper Barrett was 8th in 2.05.77.
In the men’s 1500m A race, former Nowra athlete, Cam Musgrove stretched his legs over this longer distance, instead of the 800m, running well to finish 2nd in 3.51.15 behind seasoned 1500m runner Tom Davies from Sydney University who clocked 3.50.40.
Meanwhile, in the ACT, the AACT Summer Series event number 11 was held at Woden Athletics Track, and Nowra had 4 representatives. Matt Reid had massive PB’s in all sprint events. In the 60m Matt was 9th in his heat clocking 7.68, then in the 100m he was 6th in 12.20 and in the 200m, he was 7th in 25.09.
Mark O’Leary ran well in the sprints, running in 8th in his 60m heat in 9.25 and then backed it up with 7th in the 100m in 14.87.
Anna Duncan contested the 400m, running in 7th in 1.10.57 and in the 800m was impressive with a 3rd place in 2.27.93. Tom Duncan ran a PB in the 800m placing 7th in 2.06.17 and in the 3000m he ran in 5th in 10.43.03.
