Dear Members,
Are you missing us and our athletic competition?
As vaccination rates rise across the state, we can look forward to some easing of restrictions, however even under the 70 per cent NSW roadmap, it still prevents and precludes community sport coming back.
It appears community sport, such as athletics, will not be going ahead in the state until an 80 per cent double vaccination rate is reached.
BUT despite our stay-at-home orders, you can still stay active.
- You can leave your home to do exercise outdoors or to do outdoor recreational activities.
- If you’re fully vaccinated, you can exercise or do outdoor recreational activities with up to 5 people if everyone at the gathering aged 16 years or over are fully vaccinated. The limit does not include children aged 12 or under.
Being fully vaccinated means you have had 2 doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccination or have a medical contraindication certificate issued to you.
- You must always have proof of your vaccination with you to show a police officer — if it’s requested.
- If you’re not fully vaccinated, you can exercise with 1 other person from another household. If you live with more than 2 other people, you can exercise together.
- You must stay within your local government area when exercising outdoors or doing outdoor recreational activities. If you need to cross into another local government area, you must stay within 5km of your home.
- You must carry proof of your address if you leave your home to exercise or do outdoor recreational activities.
- You must carry a face mask with you at all times BUT your face mask can be removed while you’re exercising.
In addition, as from 12 noon on 21st September, children and teenagers aged 18 years and under are able to create a ‘friends bubble’ to allow home visits for play and activity provided the adults in their homes are fully vaccinated.
- Each child is allowed to have two designated friends come to their house. These two friends must always be the same, creating a three-person “friends bubble”;
- All people older than 18 years in all the households must be fully vaccinated;
- The friends must reside within 5km of each other or in the same LGA; and
- If parents/carers are dropping children off, they must not stay to interact with other parents or carers.
Looking forward, the NSW plan is, once we reach 70% double dose, fully vaccinated people and those with medical exemptions will be able to enjoy training with up to 20 people.
This means 20 people will be allowed to come together in outdoor gatherings to run or train together.
Then when NSW hits the 80% double dose target, there is a possibility that our athletics competition as a community sport can return.
In the meantime, stay safe, stay active, stay connected.
