Last Wednesday 11th November, Erin Smart achieved the trifecta of records! In the 100m Erin set a new record of 13.08, shaving off her previous record of 13.2. Then in the 150m Erin clocked 19.50, breaking her past record of 20.0, and finally to cap off the night she ran 1.01.51 in the 400m, bettering her old record of 1.01.70. Congratulations Erin!
More records fell in the discus arena, with Tori Sayer throwing 29.90m for a new record in the 30-39 years group, bettering her record of 27.88m she set recently. Sam Peace also bettered her record in the 20-29 years event, achieving 48.39m which improved on her previous best of 47.05m. Great work athletes!
At the high jump, athlete Tsar Mandavy was jumping to new heights when he cleared the bar at 1.65m. He attempted 1.80m, for a record, and attracted the attention of many, but was unable to get a clear jump this time. There is no doubt though, that he will achieve this before the season is over. Brooklyn Mandavy also participated in high jump and cleared 1.45m whilst Paul Musgrove cleared 1.35m.
In the long jump pit Jackson Jennings jumped 5.12m and Paul Musgrove continued his jumping interest with 4.82m.
Members may have noticed the new discus nets, recently installed. The Committee would like to say thank you to Scott Johnson, Perry Strand and Terry Bailey for their efforts in a working bee to prepare the area so the new throwing cages could be installed.
