More local records were broken last Wednesday 4th November at Nowra Athletics Club Track and Field night.
In the field Samantha Peace continued her record-breaking streak with two more records. In shot put Sam recorded 11.41m breaking the longstanding record of 10.15m set by Tracey Laverty in the 1982-83 season for the 20-29 years age group. Then in discus Sam threw a huge 47.05m for a new record, smashing Tori Sayer’s record of 29.38m. Ironically Tori also set a new record for the 30-39 years group, recording 27.88m, bettering her own previous record of 27.69m in this age group.

Tim Musson continues to demonstrate a strong throwing arm, recording 35.28m in discus and Jackson Musson, clearly following in his dad’s footsteps threw 39. 18m. Another closely matched father son competition seen in the throwing circle came from the Havadjia’s. Ethan Havadjia recorded 23.65m whilst Andrew’s throw measured 23.51m and Zac Havadjia threw 20.75m.
Also throwing well were Tsar Mandavy with 31.07m, Hamish McLaren with 26.76m, and Talea Miller with 26.45m.
On the track speedy Erin Smart shaved off her 60m time yet again, setting a new record of 8.39 in the 30-39 years age group whilst young Max Marshall also set a new record in his age division, running 8.18 across 60m. Congratulations!
The sprints were hotly contested with athletes enjoying the high level of competition. In the 60m Lachlan Kaszonyi stopped the clock in 7.53, whilst Isaac Petts recorded 7.63 and Zac Havadjia 7.66. Also running well were Emerson Brian crossing in 7.73, Tsar Mandavy in 7.93 and Matt Reid in 7.97.
In the 800m there were three heats with Ethan Havadjia taking out the senior heat in 2.23.01. Emily McLaren took out her heat in 2.47.51 and Cameron Baxter claimed victory in the third heat in 2.47.85.
The 2km race was won easily by Scott Martin in 7.02.83 with Tom Duncan second in 7.09.06 and Cameron Baxter third in 7.10.17.
