Track and Field season officially started last Wednesday 23rd September with pointscore commencing.
In the 600m there were some inspiring performances on the track. Cam Musgrove took out the senior A race in a fast 1.26.82 followed by Will Dyball in 1.31.21 then Ethan Havadjia in 1.34.24. In the senior B race Byron Osgood took the win whilst Marcus Baxter ran in second and Peter Dooley took third. Eva Moeller-Duhme crossed in thirteenth position, in 3.33.88 and broke her last season record of 3.37.0. Congratulations Eva.
In the junior races Emily McLaren claimed victory in the female race. Myra Betts was second and newcomer Maddie Oke was third. In the male’s race Cameron Baxter crossed first followed by Harry Thomson then Lachlan Rabey.
In the sprints Lachlan Kaszonyi, Riley Power, Matt Reid, Hannah Brian, Ruby Marshall, Emma Keane and Erin Smart were amongst the fastest runners.
In the 1500m Cameron Baxter crossed first in front of Ethan Havadjia and Hamish McLaren. Peter Dooley was fourth and Glen Mustapic fifth. A large portion of the field of twenty four used the 1500m as a cool-down after working so hard in the 600m but it was great to see the camaraderie on the track as runners supported each other!
Meanwhile in the field, Tori Sayer set a new record in the javelin when she speared 33.96m. Congratulations Tori. Ethan Havadjia also threw well with a throw of 30.20m, and Geoff Crook was not far behind with 29.70m.
In high jump Paul Musgrove cleared the bar at 1.35m. Ella Dyball and Alex Smith jumped 1.25m and Emma Keane, Mireille Smith and Pat Ozlins all cleared 1.20m.
There were two hammer throwers with Mel Jennings throwing 25.52m and Kerrie Jones achieving 21.21m.
