Cross Country was moved to Longreach on Saturday 1st August after heavy rains left Hollyhill waterlogged.
In the 1km there were ten participants and it was Poppy Murray who led the way home. Ben Sproule was second and Malachy Martin was third. Next, we had Hugh Sproule, then Aiden McLaren with mum Doonan McLaren. Amarlie Halliday was seventh, followed by Archie Halliday then Zali Murray and Lailani Halliday.
Josie Sproule was the winner of the 2km event followed by Cameron Baxter who was the fastest runner over the 2 kms, clocking 8.21. Winter Bell ran well for third place whilst the fastest female runner was Myra Betts in fourth place with 9.20.
Andrew Havadjia was the winner of the 3km followed by Katie Martin then Lily Sproule. Denzel Washington crossed in eighth place in the quickest time of 12.22 and Hamish McLaren crossed just in front of Denzel, clocking the second fastest time of 12.36. Emily McLaren was the fastest female in this event, racing home in 14.24.
Medium course division 1 was taken out by Jacob Pepper in 22.56. Ethan Havadjia ran in second in 25.31 with Perry Strand in third in 26.32. Brad Sawyers was the fastest clocking 22.43 as he crossed in ninth place.
Division 2 winner was Alex Arnold whilst Geoff Crook took second and Lucy Duncan took third.
Long course victor was Marty Bell followed by a speedy Scott Martin who ran the quickest time of 38.23. Scott’s time was well ahead of the field with the next fastest athlete Jasper Arnold crossing in sixth in 42.04. Third place getter was Peter Khourey whilst the only female runner in Division 1 was Elisha Bell who ran in eleventh in 48.16.
Long course division 2 was taken out by Sabina Hamaty with Rob Woods second and Michael Duncan third.
Just a reminder that XC Championships, originally scheduled for this coming weekend have been postponed due to the unforeseen circumstances regarding COVID-19. Championships will now take place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September. So, hopefully we see you this Saturday 8th August for Nowra local competition. Venue to be confirmed dependent on the weather, as we are forecast for more rain!
