We’re back!
With community sport for both adults and under 18’s now able to resume with strict NSW Health Public Order requirements in place Nowra Athletics Club kicked off their 2020 cross country competition on Saturday 4th July at Hollyhill.
It was great to see so many familiar faces, as well as some new ones! Welcome everyone!
Our competition requires a new normal including Covid-19 safety protocols and restrictions. These guidelines are aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring safety for all involved. So thank you to everyone who adhered to the guidelines. We appreciate your cooperation which enables us to operate our sport.
We are all responsible for playing our part in returning to competition. As a Club we have developed a Covid Safety Plan, in accordance with Government requirements. If you’d like to see a copy of our Plan please ask a committee member. We want to run but we want to be safe. As a Committee, we will do as much as we can, however we need individuals to follow the guidelines and play their part in ensuring a COVID-Safe competition too.
As a gentle reminder, we need you to adhere to the following guidelines:
*Stay at home if you feel unwell. You must not attend if, in the last 14 days, you have been unwell, are experiencing symptoms such as a cough, sore throat, fever, fatigue or shortness of breath, or have had close contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19.
*Respect social distancing rules and stay 1.5 metres away from other people
*Stand back from the recording table and do not lean on the table. Minimise contact by placing your own place card on the spike, preventing our volunteer recorders from having to touch them.
*Use good hygiene – sanitise your hands upon arrival and before leaving
*Follow good hygiene practices – Cover a sneeze or cough with an elbow or a tissue and dispose of used tissues straight away
*No spitting or clearing of nasal/respiratory secretions
*All community sport, such as ours must still operate on the principle of “arrive, compete, leave”. Don’t linger.
*Ensure competition is strictly non-contact – including no high fives, handshakes, hugs etc.
*Please only bring essential persons to cross country. Now is not the time to being the extended family or friends to spectate unfortunately. We need to maintain an attendance register for everyone who attends so please be willing to assist our volunteers on the gate with this information as you enter.
*We encourage everyone to download the Federal Government’s COVIDSafe app.
*Register online before running – it is only $20 to register as a community member. Contactless payments are safer for everyone.
The program will continue to have staggered start times to manage attendee flows to prevent congestion, although from next week there is a slight change to the start times.
Please note from next week, 11th July, the 3km will kick off at 2.30pm with long course.
2pm 1 and 2km
2.30pm long course and 3km
3pm medium course
Please arrive on time, come in, run and leave so everyone who wants to compete has the opportunity to do so.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a massive on our Club competition. Now that we can resume our sport, we want to do so in a safe, and compliant manner.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
