After the NSW Masters Championships were called off in February, due to extreme weather conditions, the rescheduled program was held on the weekend of 7th -8th March.
Erin Smart was on fire, despite the conditions of the rescheduled event not being ideal either. Erin took gold in the 35-39 years 200m in a PB of 26.37 in windy conditions. Erin declared it was the windiest run she’d ever done, so to run a PB in that wind was quite an achievement! In addition Erin claimed silver in the 60m in 8.46. On Sunday Erin backed up to contest the 800m and added another gold to her collection with a win in 2.23.60.
Peter Dooley demonstrated great form to take gold in the 60-64 years 800m, winning the event by almost 100m, clocking 2.25.17. Second place getter Peter Byrne from Hills District crossed in 2:36.75.
In the field, Geoff Crook was surprised but ecstatic to win a bronze medal in the 55-59 years javelin with a throw of 31.52m.
Kerrie Jones added yet another medal to her collection with silver in the weight throw with a distance of 8.87m, under wet conditions – again. Kerrie was “so happy” to score the silver medal. Meanwhile in the javelin, which Kerrie reports as being “the hardest event” for her, Kerrie finished 4th after spearing 13.03m.
Congratulations to all our masters athletes.
