Cross Country was held at Berry on 24th August with the inaugural Age Championship events included as part of the program.
In the 1km event Finn Goddard was first home followed by Malachy Martin then Winter Bell, Hugh Sproule and Aidan McLaren.
In the 2km dash there were seventeen competitors. First across the line was Cameron Baxter stopping the clock at 8.34 with Lily Sproule second in a time of 10.06 and Samuel Vonk third in 10.20.
Taking line honours in the 3km event from a field of fifteen was Robin Vonk in a fast time of 11:50 followed by Toby Dyball in 12:22 and then Jett Goddard in 12:43.
Nineteen athletes lined up for the 4km race and taking the win was Will Dyball in 15:59 followed by Cameron Musgrove in 16:29 and hot on his heels, Nash Hay in 16:31.
Long course participants completed 9 kilometres and the fastest runner was Scott Martin who clocked 36:23. Running in second was Elisha Bell in 41:48 followed by Phil Duncan in 48:16. Next home was Richard Bosdyk then Milton Cox, Lucy Duncan, Sue Strand and Sky Martin.
Age Championships were introduced as a fun addition to the end of the cross-country program which may now become an annual event based on the positive feedback received. The age championship winners for each distance were as follows.
For the 1km under 6 age champions went to Finn Goddard, aged 5 who completed the distance in 4:50 and Winter Bell also aged 5 who clocked 7:45.
In the 2km under 8 category Hannah Vonk, aged 6 was the only contender. Hannah crossed in 14:04. In the under 10 division Samuel Vonk, aged 9 won male age champion in a time of 10:20 whilst Josie Sproule, aged 8, won female champion in a time of 14:46.
Taking out the 3km under 12 championship was Jett Goddard, aged 11 in a time of 12:43 and Emily McLaren, also 11, in a time of 13:09. Whilst in the under 14 division Toby Dyball, aged 12 was the male winner in 12:22 and Bridget Fairs, aged 13 was the female winner in 13:51.
In the 4km there were four separate age group divisions. In the under 16 category Will Dyball, aged 14 took the win in 15:59 whilst Alexis Charalambous, aged 15 won female age champion in 18:15. In the under 18 group Casey Johnson, aged 16 was the only competitor so took home the honours of age champion after completing the 4kms in 20:42. Perry Strand won the male 50-59 years category in a time of 18:18 whilst Alison Havadjia won the female 50-59 years division in 26:15. Peter Dooley then took out the 60+ division in 17:34.
Finally, in the 9km there were no entries for the 19-34 years group but in the 35-49 years Scott Martin won male age champion, crossing in 36:23 and Elisha Bell won female champion in 41:48
