Round 8 of the Nowra Athletics Club cross country competition was held at Timberhills on Saturday 1st June. The round served as the Bill McKinnon memorial run and this year the selected event was Long course. The honours went to Andy Waller who took out the distance in 54:01, a personal best by 4 minutes. Congratulations Andy.
In the 1km there were 5 participants and it was Rowan Brignall who crossed the line first, followed by Malachy Martin then Miller Bell, Winter Bell and Aiden McLaren.
The 2km event was won by Charlie Fay whilst Myra Betts was second and Cameron Baxter was third. Division 2 was claimed by Heidi McLaren in front of Mali Mustapic and Noah Dyball.
The winner of the 3km event was Toby Dyball in the fastest time of 11:36 with Lachlan Rabey second and Liana Charalambous third. Division 2 was taken out by Jody Brignall and Alison Havadjia was second and Katie Martin was third.
Medium course was won by Zac Jones whilst second was Will Dyball and third was Ethan Havadjia. Bradley Sawyers crossed in fifth place but was the fastest with a time of 20:53. There were just two competitors in Division 2 this week and the win went to Janeen Hay followed by Alastair Urquhart.
Meanwhile Division 3 saw John Price take the win in front of Angela Urquhart and Megan Fitt.
Andy Waller staked his claim on the long course to take the Bill McKinnon memorial honours whilst Michael Duncan was second and Jarvis Strand was third. Scott Martin was the fastest runner across this distance clocking 42:30 minutes as he crossed in fifth place.
It was David Hughes who took the points for the win in Division 2 followed by Gavin Dyball and Alison Ritchie.
