Nowra Athletics club will hopefully be back on the track Wednesday, 17th December, after a few weeks away due to the wet weather and track maintenance work. The Committee would like to thank members for their patience during the track regeneration work. The timing has been unfortunate however hopefully it will pay off in the long run. Many thanks to members who assisted at the recent working bee held at the track, especially Terry Bailey , Rob McDonald, Leith, Laura, Jake and James Babian.
Wednesday 17th.will be the last club night for the year and it will be a special program. The feature will be a “Christmas ” mile race with a couple of plum puddings as prizes. The committee is hoping to see as many club members as possible there to support the night after a disrupted program over recent weeks. Time to dust off the cobwebs! In addition, as is tradition, there will be a Christmas supper provided after Wednesday night’s competition. Come share some Christmas cheer! For catering please let a committee member know if you will NOT be attending.
Club competition will break for Christmas after this Wednesday and then resume on 7th January for Track and field club night, to work off that Christmas cheer!
The athletics season is heating up and there are a number of significant events coming up on the athletics calendar so you want to get in as much training as you can!

Samantha Peace was a silver medallist in the Under 18s discus with a mighty throw of 47.93 metres, qualifying her for IAAF World Youth Championships in 2015. This is a fantastic achievement from a very talented and committed athlete. Another fine athlete in the throwing circle, Siwa Harvey-Aziz also won a National silver medal. Siwa threw the discus 47.93metres to take 2ndplace in the under 14’s discus event. Hugh Dobson placed 12th in the Under 16s 2000 metre steeplechase in a time of 7.14.71. Congratulations to Hugh, competing in this gruelling long distance event. Middle distance runner Jye Edwards competed in not one, but two events at the Australian Championships. He placed 7th in the Under 18’s 800m in a time of 1.56.83 and finished 9th in the 1500m with 4.08.30. Fantastic results from another very dedicated athlete!
