NSW Country Championships were held at Glendale over 3 days from 23rd to 25th January 2015. Country Championships are the highlight of the year for Country clubs within NSW and Nowra athletes certainly did themselves proud at this event.
If my count is correct there were 61 Nowra athletes wearing the gold and black competing with pure enthusiasm and great sportsmanship over a wide variety of track and field events.
John Morris from Athletics NSW also commended Nowra members for volunteering their time over the weekend to assist with the running of events, In particular he mentioned his gratitude for those who helped with the lap counting of the 5000 metres events on Friday night.
There was some great competition at the championships with a friendly atmosphere. Athletes enjoyed the opportunity to mix with other like minded country athletes and to experience the camaraderie of other Nowra Athletic members at an ‘away’ venue.
There was an impressive haul of medals from Nowra athletes, some great Personal Bests achieved, and most importantly lots of laughs!
Well done to everyone who competed and also to those who cheered and supported!
A full list of results for the Nowra Club will appear shortly and remember to check out the Nowra Athletics Facebook page for photos and information.
Once again this year, Nowra Athletics will host the 1 kilometre handicap race at Nowra Show which will take place on Saturday 7th of February. All interested and available runners must let a committee member know as soon as possible if they wish to compete so the event’s starting order can be finalised.
