Round 2 of the Nowra Athletics Winter Program was conducted on Saturday 9th April 2016 at the scenic Timberhills course in Tomerong.
In the shortest distance on offer Lexie Burinaga was first across the finish line, followed by Tynan Caswell and Amber Florance.
In the 2 km Division 1 Toby Dyball was first home with Lila Pratt and Kate Leung not far behind. Division 2 winner was Levi Wallis with Brae Hudson second and Dylan Lang third.
In the 3km event Division 1 was claimed by Max Buckham. William Dyball was second and Erin Smart third. Whilst Division 2 was won by Gavin Dyball with Julie Harrison running in second and Ella Heald third.
The medium course was hotly contested by all ages. Division 1 eventual winner was teenager Jesse Buckham and second across the line, in the fastest time of the day across this distance, was Stephen Grant in a time of 18.18 minutes. Darcy Hopkins was third and then Crissy Suffolk was the fastest female, crossing in 4th place in a time of 21.38 minutes.
Division 2 was taken out by Taliah Moxham, followed by Victoria Kennedy and Matt Florance. Division 3 saw John Price take line honours with Angela Edwards and Maxine Gernyi (getting in her training for the upcoming Great Wall of China run) rounding out the top three.
This week’s long course was certainly hard-fought. Bill Stahlut was first across the line in Division 1. Richard Bosdyk was second and Perry Strand third. However Scott Martin and Leith Babian continue to battle it out on the course with Scott finishing in 4th spot in 39.22 minutes and Leith crossing in 5th place with 39.36 minutes. It’s great to see the friendly rivalry pushing each other’s speed and endurance.
Elisha Bell was the fastest female in long course with 46.39 minutes.
Division 2 of long course was won by Rob Woods whilst Scott Dobson took second and Kathy Hopkins third.
Round 3 of cross country will take place next Saturday 16th April at Huskisson. Events will start at 2.30pm sharp with registration to be completed prior to race start time.
