Round 5 of Nowra Track & Field was held at Shoalhaven High School on Wednesday October 26th.
It was a record breaking round with 8 new records set!
In the 60metres Steven Schott set a new record in the 40-49 years group with a sprint of 7.6 seconds. Steven then backed this effort up with another record breaking run in the 200m; clocking 25.4 seconds.
Perry Strand also set a new 60m record in the 50-59 years category with a fast time of 8.2 seconds.
Eva Moeller-Duhme continues to add her name to the record books establishing a 60-69 years record in the 800m with a time of 4.34.0 minutes as well as a 2000m record with 12.07 minutes.
Not to be out-done or out-run Eric Moeller-Duhme set a new 70-79 years record in the men’s 2000m with a time of 9.43 minutes.
In the discus circle Kerrie Jones broke yet another record in the 60-69 years event with a throw of 17.81 metres whilst Tim Musson also threw a record breaking distance of 36.52 metres in the 40-49 years section.
Congratulations to all these athletes on their fine performances.
The A grade boys continue to battle it out on the track, testing their speed with Emerson Brian, Hayden Strand, Zac Havadjia, Liam Dooley and Brady Blacker all showing healthy rivalry.
B grade boys also demonstrate consistency on the track with Ethan Havadjia, Jordan deVries, Brock Nichols, Corey McConville and David Whittaker all giving their best.
It’s great to see a growing number of our mum’s competing in the Veteran sprints with Erin Smart, Cindie Pearce, Janelle Stiles and Lynette Baker being cheered on by their children.
In the 800m Leith Babian crossed first followed by Liam Dooley then Zac Havadjia and Ethan Havadjia. In the juniors race Jai Holland was the winner again this week followed by Byron Osgood then Wil Osgood.
Rommey Hazell was first in the combined girls event with Madison Carr second and Laila Hartnett third whilst in the women’s race Holly Spence was first home in front of Erin Smart and Baylee Holland.
Leith Babian also claimed victory in the 2000m. Young Jai Holland ran in second showing very strong form and Perry Strand finished third.
In the field Ebony Johnson had a great throw with the discus with 26.36 metres whilst Brock Nichols sent his discus soaring to 34.42 metres. Emily Burinaga recorded 22.57 metres in C grade whilst younger sister Lexie recorded 11 metres in E grade. Also throwing well in the discus circle were Taylor and Jessie Moffat, Jackson Musson, William and Toby Dyball, Jett Anderson, Brodie Crowther and Lachlan Woods.
In the high jump Brock Nichols cleared the bar at the highest with 1.60 metres. Liam Dooley jumped 1.55 metres whilst Hayden Strand, Jordan deVries, Corey McConville and Ethan Havadjia all jumped well. Georgia Carr was the only girl to compete clearing 1 metre whilst Steven Schott and Paul Musgrove jumped for the veterans group.
A number of our Nowra athletes have been competing at some of the NSW Athletics and ACT conducted events, demonstrating their athletic prowess against competitors from other clubs. Their results are published on the Nowra Athletics website as they come to hand so please check them out and celebrate their successes with us.
