November 16th saw Round 8 of Nowra Athletics Track & Field play out.
And yes, more records fell!
Samantha Peace threw the discus to a new record distance of 47.18 metres in the 18-19 years event and Janie Hamilton bettered her throw from 2 weeks ago for a new record in the 40-49 years of 23.38 metres.
Also setting a new discus record was Tim Musson with a throw of 38.02 metres in the 40-49 years event.
On the track Eric Moeller-Duhme ran the 2000m in a new record time for the 70 + group with 9.37 minutes and wife Eva also set a new record in the 60-69 years with a time of 11.58 minutes.
Once again, congratulations to these record-breaking athletes.
Not breaking records, but giving it their all, as usual, was Jai Holland, Jackson Musson, Jett Anderson, Scott Delo and William Dyball in C grade.
E grade boys had an increased number of participants with Cody Chater, Kai Reid, Noah Dyball, Sean Harris, Toby Dyball, Darcy O’Sulivan and Dean Osgood all running hard. E grade girls also ran well with Lexie Burinaga, Emily Burinaga, Zoe Baker, Allie Moffat, Claire Musson, Lizzy Stiles, Taylah Forbes, Bronte O’Sullivan, Sophie Braddick and Evie Smart competing in a number of events.
A grade women had a good battle in the 60m sprint with Zoe Chater taking line honours in 8.2 seconds just in front of Sarah deVries in 8.4 seconds followed by Holly Spence in 8.8 seconds.
Whilst in the A grade men Emerson Brian finished first in 7.4 seconds with Hayden Strand and Cooper Thomson clocking equal times of 7.6 seconds; too close to call!
In the Vets men’s 60m race there was another battle with the first two runners too close to separate on the finish line with Leith Babian and Perry Strand both clocking 8.6 seconds.
Meanwhile in the Vets women’s race there was a close tussle for first and second place with Janie Hamilton just outsprinting Erin Smart.
In the girls long jump Hannah Brian made a welcomed return to Wednesday night competition with the longest jump of 3.64metres. Taylor Moffat jumped 3.45m and Rommey Hazell jumped 3.44m. Jai Holland jumped the biggest in the boys event with 4.86metres whilst Jett Anderson recorded 3.59m and Jackson Musson 3.58m.
In the high jump it was Cooper Thomson who leapt the highest clearing 1.60metres. Hayden Strand and Patrick Ozolins both jumped 1.48 metres. Corey McConville cleared 1.43 metres; Jordan deVries 1.40m and Ethan Havadjia 1.30 metres.
Unfortunately due to a variety of reasons many athletes were unable to compete at the upcoming NSW State Relay Championships so the Club was unable to enter any teams this year. The organising committee apologies to those who were keen to run and hope we can come back bigger and better next year.
