Hot off the back of Country Championships the fine form continued for 4 athletes at Nowra Athletics Club on Wednesday 30th January. New records were set by Erin Smart, Peter Dooley and Alissa Beresford whereas Kerrie Jones equalled her discus record.
In the 800m whilst Cam Musgrove took the win in front of Ethan Havadjia and Scott Martin, Erin Smart ran in 4th in a record time of 2.28.01 minutes for the 30-39 years group and in 5th place Peter Dooley clocked a new record for the 60-69 years with a time of 2.32.23.
In the junior 800m Hamish McLaren was first across the line with Cameron Baxter second and Alisha Mustapic third.
In the sand, the Beresford family had the trifecta in the triple jump. Mason Beresford jumped 9.98 metres, and Paul Beresford jumped 8.20 metres. However, it was Alissa Beresford who outshone the boys with a record jump of 8.24 metres smashing the previous record of 7.93 metres in the 40-49 years category.
The junior long jump saw Mason Beresford record the biggest jump with 5.30 metres. Also jumping well were Reilly Caswell with 4.34 metres and Cooper Barrett with 4.26 metres.
In high jump Paul Musgrove stayed true to his gold medal last weekend and jumped the highest, along with Lucas Johnson; both clearing 1.40 metres. Reilly Caswell jumped 1.35 metres and Patrick O’Leary cleared 1.25 metres. Hamish McLaren jumped 1.20 metres and Harrison Baxter cleared 1.10 metres.
Kerrie Jones maintained her formula for throwing with a throw of 18.64 metres to equal her discus record in the 60-69 years group. Blake Hartnett demonstrated his good throwing arm with the biggest throw of the night with 32.95 metres. Kane Barrett also displayed good form with a throw of 29.11 metres. Nathan Groves threw 25.24 metres and Mark O’Leary recorded 25.11 metres.
In the 60m sprints Emerson Brian was the fastest at 8.02. not far behind was Ethan Havadjia with 8.24. Also running well were Sarah deVries (8.50), Erin Smart (8.59), Hannah Brian 98.63), Marty Bell (8.63) and Jackson Jennings (8.70).
In the distance event Scott Martin took out the 2000m with Marcus Baxter second and Dennis Smart third.
