Round 13 of Nowra Athletics cross country was held at Longreach on Saturday 1st July.
It was another perfect sunny afternoon with crisp temperatures; ideal for running!
In the first event it was Emily McLaren once again who was the quickest over the 1 kilometre and Micah and Elsie Procter were not far behind her!
Always trying hard to do their best and improve each week, William Anderson and Evie Smart were rewarded with 4th and 5th place this week.
In the 2km it was Kate Leung who crossed first in Division 1. Darcy Arnold ran 9.35 minutes clocking the fastest female time over 2kms and Reilly Caswell ran in third in the fastest time of 8.45 minutes.
Division 2 winner was Brodie Wilson with Wil Osgood second and Katie Martin third.
3 kms Division 1 had just four competitors this week with Lou Reali taking line honours followed by Isobel Cofield with the fastest female time of 14.38 minutes, then Bidgette Fairs and Alisha Rawlinson.
Division 2 was won by Jasper Leung with Ella Heald second and Rommey Hazell third.
Medium Course Division 1 had low numbers too with just six contenders. Paul Duncan was the victor with Alex O’Brien running in second as the fastest runner with 21.39 minutes on the clock. Cameron Musgrove gave the medium course another go and ran in third whilst Cooper Thomson was fourth, followed by Jon Schol and Jasper Arnold.
Division 2 was taken out by Peter Heald with Lucas Johnson claiming second place and Dean Bryce was third. Erin Smart was the fastest female over this distance finishing in 25.05 minutes whilst Division 3 winner was Megan Fitt followed by Razz Morgan and Lisa Carroll.
Long course was well represented – there are more (crazy) runners willing to run longer distances it seems!
Taking line honours was young Kieren Harrison but it was Matt Lewis who was the fastest crossing second in 32.31 minutes. Irwin Burbage rounded out the top three whilst Annie Schofield recorded the fastest female time of 47.32 minutes crossing in sixteenth place.
In Division 2 numbers were lower and it was Ming Leung who claimed the top points for first place. Rob Woods ran in second followed by Darren Morris, Erich Moeller-Duhme, David Hughes, Sue Anfruns and Kevyn Davis in that order.
Next week cross country will be held at Willandra on the 8th July.
In other news the 2017 XCC Short Course was held at Upjohn Park, Rydalmere on Sunday, 2 Jul 2017.
Competing for Nowra were a number of young runners. In the Under 14’s 3km event Alec Dobson ran 11.02 minutes finishing 20th whilst Sam Maher was 29th in 11.34 minutes. In the Under 18’s 5km event Hugh Dobson ran strongly to place 11th in 17.05 minutes.
