Nowra Athletics continued track and field competition on Wednesday 17th January.
In the junior 800m Will Dyball took line honours with Matthew Higham running in second. Toby Dyball was third and Wil Osgood was fourth.
Meanwhile the senior race was taken out by Brad Sawyers who passed Ethan Havadjia in the closing metres of the race. Pete Dooley ran in third and Dennis Smart was fourth.
In the sprint events our juniors ran with their trademark enthusiasm. Noah Dyball won the first heat of the 60m followed by Dean Osgood and Tom Smart. Liam Johnstone ran well to take out heat 2 with Emily McLaren close on his heels. Ally Moffat, Harry Thomson and Evie Smart also ran well.
In the senior 60m sprint it was a very close race. Lachlan Kaszonyi ran in first in 8.06 seconds followed closely by Ethan Havadjia in 8.18 seconds and Cooper Thomson was just a smidgen behind in 8.20 seconds. Then in the 200m in another close race Ethan Havadjia took the win in 25.95 seconds just in front of Lachlan in 25.98 seconds.
In the veteran events Paul Musgrove won the 60m in 8.43 seconds with Dennis Smart second and Gavin Dyball third.
In the field Paul Musgrove was the sole competitor in high jump, clearing 1.40 metres.
Whilst in the triple jump junior Lily Wheeler soared to 10.29 metres and Mason Berseford jumped 10.23 metres while Sarah de Vries jumped 9.62 metres and Paul Berseford jumped 8.32 metres.
In the discus circle junior Jayla Beresford threw the biggest distance of 18.64 metres with Talea Miller throwing 18.27 metres. Alisha Mustapic and Emily McLaren also threw well.
In the boys event it was William Dyball who had the biggest throwing arm with a throw of 19.63 metres. Hamish McLaren and Wil Osgood also threw good distances.
Track and Field will continue each Wednesday night until 28th February.
Dont forget Country Champioships will be held in Wollongong over the Australia Day weekend. Everyone is encouraged to enter with entries closing on 22nd January.
