Coles Region 4 Championships were held at Griffith over the weekend of 8-9th February 2025.
Nowra Athletics Club was represented by 13 athletes. They achieved awesome results, reaping the rewards of their training and dedication.
Flynn Kelly came away with 3 gold medals in the Under 14 group. In the long jump, Flynn recorded the winning jump of 5.36m. In the 100m, Flynn ran 12.67 in the heat then went on to take the win in the final in 12.84, whilst in the 200m, he clocked 25.85 for another win.
Addison Galloway collected 4 medals over the weekend. In the 10’s 60m hurdles heat, Addison clocked 11.93 for 1st place then progressed in the final to take the gold medal in 11.76. Addison also took gold in the long jump with a leap of 3.98m. In the 100m sprint, after 16.07 in the heat, Addison ran 15.45 for the silver medal in the final and in the 200m, she took the bronze medal in 32.95.
Hugh Thirwall contested the middle-distance events and took the gold medal in the Under 15 1500m, in 4.36.85 and the silver medal in the 800m in 2.13.70.
Kai Thirwall also contested the middle-distance events and took the silver medal in the 12’s 1500m in 5.07.85 and the bronze medal in the 800m in 2.36.70. In addition, Kai jumped 3.68m for 11th place in the long jump.
Airlie Stevens went home with a medal of each colour. In the Under 15 1500m, Airlie won gold in 5.05.90. In the 800m, she took the silver medal in 2.27.60 and in the 400m, it was bronze in 1.02.54.
Madeline Oke took the bronze trifecta with 3rd place in the Under 15 800m in 2.44.30, 3rd place in the 1500m in 5.32.98 and 3rd place in the 3000m in 12.01.74. Madeline was also 5th in triple jump with 8.15m and 8th in long jump with 3.89m.
Macca Davis bagged 3 medals, taking the silver medal in the Under 14 3000m with a time of 10.44.55, bronze in the 800m with 2.21.10 and another bronze in the 1500m with 4.46.16.
Evie Binney had a silver-lined weekend with 2nd place in the Under 16 300m hurdles in 49.71 and 2nd place in the 800m in 2.28.20.
Skylah Reilly took the silver medal in the 10’s 1100m race walk in 7.34.77 and was 11th in the 60m hurdles in 14.27.
Willow Dwyer qualified for the 12’s 100m final after finishing 6th in the heat in 14.68. In the final Willow was 5th with a time of 14.74 and then in the 200m, Willow was 7th in 30.05.
Thor Jackson was 5th in the 12’s 1500m in 5.45.74, 6th in the 800m in 2.49.30 and 6th in the shot put with a throw of 8.41m.
Darcy Binney was 10th in the 11’s 100m, finishing in 16.55 and was 13th in the long jump with a leap of 3.16m.
Kiefer Spearpoint ran 11.34 in the 10’s 70m qualifying him for the final. In the final Kiefer was 8th in 11.67. Kiefer also contested the 100m where he finished 10th in 16.58 and the 200m, where he was 7th in 35.18. In the long jump, Kiefer jumped 2.44m for 11th place.
