Walkers and runners enjoyed another lovely night at The Wharf on Friday 22nd November. The warm temperature, still evening and photogenic light provided very favourable conditions. All the action was captured on drone by club member Bill Turnbull. The blockbuster to be released shortly!
2km
The 2km course saw the return of Deb Sansom and John Price to running, in the relaxed atmosphere of Friday Night Walk, Run & Socialise. Both were pleased with their efforts and look forward to continuing. Natasha Toms and Sky Martin ran together all the way to take line honours in equal first. Deb Sansom completed the podium crossing the line in third.
5km
16 Walkers and runners, as well as faithful companion Benji, started the 5km course. Father and daughter Alex and Darcy Arnold played out a family duel. Alex crossed the line for first, just seconds in front of Darcy. Alex was certainly determined. He discarded his hat and put his head down 50 metres out from the finishing line. Tiffany Knight came an impressive third, pipping evergreen Erich Moeller-Duhme in the home straight. Scott Martin won the back marker duel with the fastest time on the night, an impressive 19.35.
Next week we are out at UOW Shoalhaven. The course is a mix of grass and gravel trail, with absolutely no roads. Since our inaugural run last Winter Cross Country, the course has been redesigned. It promises to be a great course. See you there!
