Wednesday 6th November was a huge night for records with 5 new records set, and 3 of them were set by members of the Boatswain family!
In the field, in the 12-13 years group, Emerson Boatswain hurled the hammer 11.77m, creeping past her old record of 11.71m. Nakita Boatswain set a new 18-19 years hammer record with her throw of 18.98m and Anne Boatswain set a new shot put record of 9.19m for the 40-49 years group, bettering her previous record of 8.65m.
Meanwhile in the 14-15 years group, Kadance Naylor threw the hammer 20.50m, far exceeding her previous throw of 17.60m.
In the discus, Hamish McLaren had the biggest throw of the night with 36.98m. Timothy Musson had the next best throw with 31.46m. Kadance Naylor threw 28.01m whilst Nakita Boatswain threw 26.12m and Zoe Musson 25.01m.
On the track, Eva-Maria Moeller-Duhme ran the 800m in 05:25.06, smashing her previous record of 5.35.04.
The 2000m was won by Macarthur Davis in 7:29.45. Airlie Stevens was 2nd in 7:42.25 and Madeline Oke was 3rd in 7:51.28. It was great to see Steve Ball contesting the 2000m alongside daughter Maggie Ball, with Maggie finishing in 9:40.39 and Steve following her across the line in 9:40.47.
Simon Donougher had a great run in the 200m, clocking 29.60. Sam Keogh also had a good run with 30.21 as did Zoe Musson with 30.24. 9 year olds Addison Galloway and Ivy Donougher clocked impressive times of 33.74 and 37.24 respectively.
Erin Smart is in top form again this season, finishing the 200m in 27.64. Evie Smart seems to be following in her mum’s footsteps, demonstrating great form, to clock 30.27.
Our youngest athletes, aged under 6, continue to have lots of fun competing, amongst them Rosie Saviane, Talekai Puckridge and Kayleigh Kingdom. We love to see their enthusiasm.
