After a warmish day, a gentle breeze and stunning evening light greeted the runners at the starting line of The Wharf course. Despite a show in town and a caravan escape to Kiama, 15 runners took the opportunity to test out the run over the bridge. It was pleasing to see some new runners, and a couple from the past, join in the fun.
2km
The 2km course was a solo effort from Sky Martin with her faithful companion Willy. Sky enjoyed the course while Willy enjoyed the congratulatory pats.
5km
Newcomer Luke Nolan with his pacesetting companion Max won the 5km challenge (28.26) . Luke enjoyed the chocolate, but of course there was none for Max. Fellow newcomer Aaron Jones (28.41) took second. Scott Martin, who was one of the back markers in the field, ran an impressive time of 20.00 neat to finish third. Runners again complimented the course, which took you east towards the caravan park, west towards the rowing club, north over the bridge and south back to the finish line.
Next week we meet at Greenfields Beach Vincentia. It’s all bush trail, including a climb up towards the water tower and back down. See you there, if you dare!
