The NSW Road Relays were held at The Crest Athletics Track on Saturday 3rd August.
Nowra’s U20 team had a great run to take the silver medal in a combined time of 50.55. Will Dyball led the team out in 12.42, setting a solid pace. Hamish McLaren was next out and put in a sound effort to complete his lap in 13.27. Oliver Baxter grinded through lap 3 in a time of 12.33 and Nic McGill brought the team home in a quick 12.11. Nowra finished behind Gosford Allstars Athletics and in front of Blue Mountains Athletics Club. Congratulations to this fine team of young runners, who have captured the attention of ANSW officials and are destined to be a team to watch in the future. The men’s 50+ relay was hotly contested by 10 teams. Nowra men put in a great combined effort to finish 7th in 1.05.24 after a very anxious start where Gavin mixed up the race time and arrived with approximately 4 minutes to spare before his relay leg. Scott Armstrong kick started the team with a great first leg of 15.11. Ming Leung ran well to complete the 2nd leg in 16.22, and Dean Bryce looked strong in his leg, finishing in 16.44. With no time for a warm up prior to the race, Gavin Dyball ran well under pressure to complete the his leg in 17.06. The team comradery amongst these men is strong and it was great to see them having fun at another competition.
