The inaugural ‘Chocolate Round’ was held at Longreach Rd on Saturday 29th June. There were plenty of chocolate prizes up for grabs, awarded to mystery places, and the round proved very popular with members.
In the 3km event, there were 12 competitors. Noah Dyball was first home in 16.41. Emma Stevens was 2nd in 20.47 and Josie Sproule was 3rd in 13.35. It was a sprint finish for Lhiam Crook, who crossed in 16.16, beating Erin Smart to the line, who clocked 13.26 whilst Geoff Crook was 6th in 16.28. There was another sprint finish from Evie Smart and Tom Smart with sibling rivalry in full action. Bragging rights for finish order went to Evie who crossed in 7th place in 13.53, whilst Tom was 8th, however Tom earned his own bragging rights as the fastest runner over the 3kms, with a time of 12.14.Brad Stevens was 9th in 14.38, followed by Madeline Oke with 13.16. Tom Brooks was 11th in 13.38 and Jack Kinsele rounded out the field in 25.59.
Medium course was contested by just 9 athletes with Emily McLaren taking the win in 20.10. Alex Arnold was 2nd in 26.35 and Bill Turnbull was 3rd in 30.49. Steve McCullagh was 4th in 19.08 and Gavin Dyball was right on his heels in 19.11. Scott Armstrong was 6th with 23.17 whilst Dennis Smart was 7th in 17.45. Fastest on course was Hamish McLaren with a time of 16.21 and Lily Sproule completed the field with 18.07.Long course had 10 competitors and line honours went to Brad Sawyers in the fastest time of 35.41. Rebecca Cooper was 2nd in 54.09 and Casey Johnson was 3rd in 50.01. Dean Bryce finished in 4th place in 48.15 and Daniel Wood was 5th in 38.08. Scott Johnson was 6th in 52.21 followed by Angela Bond in 58.22. It was great to have Leith Babian join us for the chocolate round, bringing his characteristic smile and enthusiasm. Leith was 8th in a time of 40.12.Finishing out the field was Rob Oke in 9th place in 50.53 and Graham Anderson in 10th place in 53.10.
