School Sport Australia held their 2023 Track & Field Championships in Launceston, Tasmania from 23rd to 27th November 2023.
These Championships were for athletes aged 10-12 years and included athletes from ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, and VIC.
Nowra had 2 outstanding athletes representing their State of NSW.
Hollie Braddick had a great run in the 11 years 100m, clocking 13.35 in her heat then going on to earn herself a new PB of 13.30 in the final with 4th place. What a fantastic achievement at a National level! Hollie also competed as part of a relay team, where they took silver. We look forward to seeing Hollie compete at Country Championships for Nowra in January.
Riley Sandstrom finished 4th in the 10 years combined event with a bonus 2 PB’s in the 100m and 800m. Riley was 2nd in 100m with a time of 14.29 and 7th in the 800m with 2.42.78. In the long jump, Riley was 7th with a jump of 4.09m and 3rd in shot put with 8.74m. Riley surely has a bright future as a decathlete.
Huge congratulations to these 2 young talented athletes!
