Track and Field competition, week 3, was held on Wednesday October 11th.
Evie Binney had a good run in the junior 1000m, finishing in 3:33.62. Tom Smart was 2nd in 3:47.31 and Emerson Boatswain was 3rd in 3:54.05. The senior race was taken out by Toby Dyball in 2:56.70 whilst Hamish McLaren was 2nd in 3:06.09 and Sam Rosskelly was 3rd in 3:18.01.
There were 7 competitors in the 3km event with Dennis Smart taking the win in 11:49.49. Scott Armstrong was 2nd in 11:57.86 and Evie Binney was 3rd in 12:41.07. Tom Smart was 4th in 12:54.41, whilst Scott Johnson was 5th in 13:34.93. Evie Smart was 6th in 13:41.73 and Emerson Boatswain was 7th in 14:15.02.
Sprinting 400m, Toby Dyball had a great run to complete the lap in 57.56. Also recording good times were Hamish McLaren (1:03.11), Erin Smart (1:04.14) and Archie Higgins (1:05.43).
Sam Keogh cleared the high jump at 1.20m which equaled Linda Weatherill’s 40-49 years record set in 2007-08. Meanwhile Anne Boatswain speared herself a new record in the 40-49 years javelin with a throw of 23.66m, bettering the record of 20.48m set by Dianne Dennis in the 2006-07 season.
In the junior long jump, Archie Higgins put in a great leap of 4.44m. Also jumping well with over 3m jumps was Evie Binney (3.92m), Skyla Jackson (3.45m), Phillip Ansah (3.41), Wyatt Binney (3.30m), Heidi Saviane (3.25m) and Emerson Boatswain (3.15m).
All athletes are reminded that they are required to be a financial member by the end of the October, or they will be unable to compete at track and field competition nights.
