On a beautiful sunny afternoon, we had positive numbers contest the Huskisson cross country course on Saturday 24th June.
Hayley Astin-Briggs took 1st place in the 1km race in 9:35. Sister – brother duo of Evie and Tom Smart then battled it out for 2nd and 3rd place. Evie crossed in front in 4:30 but Tom edged her out in time with 4:23.
In the 2km event Ashleigh Astin-Briggs was 1st in 14:17. Joshua Astin-Briggs was 2nd in 13:19 and Benjamin Sproule was 3rd in 10:57. Malachy Martin was 4th in 12:55 and Darcy Binney was 5th in 11:56. Visitors Tori and Ava Jones crossed next and the field was rounded out by Hewie Sproule in 14:23.
The 3km was taken out by hardworking Josie Sproule in 18:16. Harry Davis ran in 2nd in 17:12 and Harry Thomson took 3rd in 14:14, which was the quickest time. Ryder Monkerud was 4th in 16:56 and Mikaela Monkerud was 5th as fastest female, in 14:29. Glenn Sansom was 6th in 17:14, non-member Dane Kelley was 7th whilst Peter Dooley was 8th in 15:00. Unregistered runner Sam Kelley was 9th followed by Emerson Boatswain who ran well to clock 15:35. Evie Binney also had a good race to finish in 14:40. Meanwhile Elizabeth Davis was 12th in 16:47 and Wyatt Binney was 13th in 17:58. Airlie Stevens took an easy run to cross in 14th place in 16.28 and Macarthur Davis took the final place in 15th position in 16:57.
Nicholas McGill had a great run to take out medium course in the fastest time of 17:26. Geoff Crook was 2nd in 27:56 and Harrison Baxter was 3rd in 18:57. Gavin Dyball was next registered runner home in 23:08 followed by Katie Martin in 33:02 and then Emily McLaren in 23:12. Lily Sproule had a solid run to clock 22:23 which was the fastest female time. Oliver Baxter also had a great run, clocking 18:53. Erin Smart was 10th in 23:55 followed by Ann Swinbourne in 33.20 and then Mia Monkerud in 22:51. Elisha Gilmour was 13th in 31:49 followed by Marcus Baxter in 21:51 then Eva-Maria Moeller-Duhme in 38:27. Sharyn Bryce, Donna Johnson and Sky Martin completed the field.
Long course had just 3 participants with Dean Bryce taking the line honours in 50:05 followed by Perry Strand in 48:40 and Scott Martin in 45:32.
The Club’s AGM and annual Presentation was conducted after the cross country running.
