Cross country was held at Longreach on Saturday 22nd April with strong numbers.
The afternoon started with 2 competitors in the 1km with Madison Sandstrom running the course in 5:57 and Hayley Astin-Briggs 2 finishing in 11:58.
In the 2km event, there were 5 registered competitors. Winter Bell made it home 1st in 13:12 followed by Lhiam Crook in 12:01 and then Joshua Astin-Briggs in 13:58. Ashleigh Astin-Briggs finished in 15:40 and Darcy Binney was 5th with the fastest time of 11:52.
It was great to see William Anderson back at cross country, fresh from his holiday, and running in 1st in the 3km event in 16:42. Geoff Crook was 2nd in 18:09 and Miller Bell was 3rd in 17:44. Battling it out for the fastest time on course was Hugh Thirlwall and Macarthur Davis. Hugh won the title in 6th place with his time of 12:25 closely followed by Macarthur Davis with 12:44.
In the medium course the points winner was Darren Morris in 23:47 with Alison Havadjia 2nd in 30:46 and Eva-Maria Moeller-Duhme 3rd in 33:33. Fastest on course was Hamish McLaren who finished 11th in 16.02. Next fastest was Darcy Davis with 17.55 whilst fastest female was Mia Monkerud with 19.10.
Long course had 11 competitors and the victor was Cathleen Chang who crossed in 53:58. Graham Anderson was 2nd in 47:35 which was the fastest time of the day and Dean Bryce was 3rd in 49:45.
