The Australian Athletics Championships will be held in Perth from 4th to 13th April 2025. This year’s Australian Championships will be the 102nd edition of the event, which dates back to 1890 for men and 1931 for women.
The meet covers open age events as well as all junior events from Under 13 through to Under 20. To gain entry to this meet, athletes must meet the qualifying standard set by Athletics Australia.
Nowra Athletics Club has had 13 members named in the NSW TEAM for the 2025 Championships. For a Country Club, this is an outstanding achievement.
Nowra has 2 athletes qualify for the Under 15 800m – Airlie Stevens and Hugh Thirwall, whilst Lily Sproule will make her National debut in the Under 17 800m.
In the gruelling steeplechase event Nowra will be represented by Evie Binney in the Under 16 2000m event and brother-sister duo Emily McLaren and Hamish McLaren will compete in the Under 18 and Under 20 event respectively.
Nowra will have 3 hurdlers compete at Nationals. Both Tom Brookes and Jonah Watson will contest the Under 20 110m hurdles and Alisha Mustapic will contest the Under 20 400m hurdles.
Amelia May will run in the Under 20 1500m and Will Dyball will compete in the very competitive Open 800m.
Brothers Harrison Baxter and Oliver Baxter will both contest the Under 20 5000m.
We wish everyone the very best of luck.
