The 2024 competition season has kicked off with both round 1 and 2 of The Treloar Shield now completed.
Round 1 was held on 12th October and Nowra Athletics Club was represented by 10 athletes.
Braxton Naylor contested the 12’s and under 60m, finishing in 11th place in 11.11. In the javelin, Braxton was 3rd with a throw of 15.62m and in shot put, Braxton was 6th with 5.95m.
Kadance Naylor competed in the 15-17’s (under 18) group, spearing 3rd in javelin with 33.48m and 8th in shot with 8.92m.
Mum, Lauren Naylor was 2nd in the 35-49 years javelin with her throw of 26.01m and was 3rd in shot put with 7.75m.
Charli Keogh had a busy program, contesting 5 events in the under 15 group. In the 60m, Charli ran 9.96 and in the 200m, she clocked 34.99. Charli was 5th in the 80m hurdles in a time of 18.66, a great effort for her first competition hurdle event. In the field, Charli threw 3.46m in shot put and 10.48m in javelin.
Sam Keogh, as usual, also had a big program. Sam was 2nd in the 35-49 years 60m in 8.73 and 2nd in the 200m in 28.85. Sam took the win in the 90m hurdles in 16.79 and claimed 3rd in high jump, clearing the bar at 1.30m. Sam was also 4th in shot put with her throw of 7.37m.
Alisha Mustapic had some strong runs across the sprint events. Alisha was 12th in the Open 60m with 8.31 and 8th in the 200m with 26.77. Whilst in the 800m, Alisha was 7th in a time of 2.36.30.
Jonah Watson hurdled his way to 4th in the Open 110m hurdles, crossing in 17.45.
Harry Thomson competed in the Under 18 group and recorded 8.66 in the 60m and 26.90 in the 200m. In the 100m hurdles Harry finished 9th overall with 17.99.
Gavin Dyball was 5th in the 50+ 800m, finishing in 2.33.09 and Will Dyball was 4th in the Open 800m with 1.58.43.
At Round 2 of the Treloar Shield, held on 19th October, Hamish McLaren was Nowra’s sole representative. Hamish took the win in the Open 3000m steeplechase event in 10.46.84.
