The new season of Track and Field competition kicked off on Wednesday 11th September with pleasing numbers. There were familiar faces amongst new ones, as well as some athletes returning after a hiatus from athletics. There were certainly plenty of smiling faces and enthusiasm.
On the track runners tested themselves over 60m, 150m and 1200m.
Amongst the quickest sprinters over 60m were Harry Thomson with 8.61, Phillip Ansah with 8.82, Erin Smart with 8.83, and Steve Schott with 8.34. Over 150m, Steve Schott was the fastest with 19.83. Riley Sandstrom had a good run with 21.68 as did Evie Binney in 22.53 and Evie Smart in 22.82. Masters runner Eva Moeller-Duhme set a new record for the 70+ age group finishing in 42.80.
In the 1200m, it was a family affair in the top positions! Tom Smart took the win in 4.21.39 whilst Dave Sproule was 2nd in 4.31.79 and Evie Smart was 3rd in 4.33.33. Lily Sproule was hot on her heels in 4.34.02 followed by Josie Sproule in 4.38.63.
In the field, both junior and senior athletes had fun across a variety of events.
