A dedicated group of Nowra athletes travelled to Canberra on 21st October 2023 to compete in the Summer Series No 2 at the AIS.
Newcomer Phillip Ansah competed at his first meet and came away with 2 PB’s; 14.05 in the 100m and 29.93 in the 200m.
Tom Brookes ran a PB of 24.51 in the 200m.
In the 400m, Toby Dyball was 2nd in his heat clocking a PB of 55.36 whilst Jonah Watson was 3rd in 56.18. In heat 2, Jade Mustapic was 3rd in a season best of 1:01.96, finishing in front of sister Alisha Mustapic, who clocked a 2 second PB of 1:02.08.
Toby Dyball contested the 800m and was 5th in 2:06.41 whilst Gavin Dyball was 8th in 2:29.95.
Jade Mustapic ran another season best in her 800m, finishing in 2:27.63.
In the 3000m, Glen Mustapic was 3rd in 13:39.61.
In the 400m hurdles, Tom Brookes was 3rd with a new PB of 1:03.32, followed by Jonah Watson in 1:04.25.
Evie Binney had a great run in the steeplechase event, finishing strongly in 8:28.49. Emily McLaren also had a strong run in her steeplechase, clocking 7:53.54 whilst Cameron Baxter ran 6:51.38 in his event. Oliver Baxter clocked a national qualifier in the mens 14-17 years steeplechase, taking the win in 6.36.65 and in the same race, Hamish McLaren was 2nd in 7.01.90.
